Terms of Service
Effective date: August 30, 2026
Welcome to Once. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Once and its website, products, and services.
By creating an account, purchasing a story or subscription, or otherwise using Once, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Once
Once is a service that helps parents and guardians create personalized illustrated stories for children using information and creative preferences provided by the user.
Once may use artificial intelligence to generate text, illustrations, questions, and other content.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms to create an account and use the service.
Once is intended to be used by adults, including parents and guardians. Children should not independently create Once accounts or submit personal information through the service.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity occurring through your account.
You agree to provide accurate information and not to impersonate another person.
3. Information About Children
You are responsible for the information you choose to provide about a child.
By submitting information about a child, you represent that you are authorized to provide that information and use it for creation of personalized content through Once.
Please avoid providing sensitive information that is unnecessary for creating a story.
4. AI-Generated Content
Once uses artificial intelligence to generate some content.
AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate, or unexpected.
You are responsible for reviewing a generated story before sharing it with a child.
Once is designed as a creative storytelling service. It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, therapeutic, educational, legal, or other professional advice.
5. Purchases and Subscriptions
Once may offer individual story purchases and recurring subscription plans.
Prices and included story allowances are displayed before purchase.
Subscriptions automatically renew according to the billing period shown at purchase unless canceled.
Unused story allowances associated with a subscription do not roll over to future billing periods unless expressly stated otherwise.
If you cancel a subscription, cancellation takes effect according to the terms shown during cancellation or in the applicable billing portal. Access and remaining benefits may continue through the end of the paid billing period where applicable.
Payment processing may be provided by Stripe or another third-party payment provider.
6. Generated Stories and Your Content
You retain responsibility for information and materials you submit to Once.
You grant Once the rights reasonably necessary to process that information for the purpose of operating the service and generating, storing, and displaying the content you request.
Subject to applicable law and third-party rights, you may use stories generated specifically for you for your personal and family use.
You may not use Once to violate another person’s intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.
7. Acceptable Use
You may not use Once to:
- violate applicable law
- harm, exploit, or endanger children
- submit content you do not have the right to use
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or another user’s account
- interfere with or disrupt the service
- circumvent payment, usage, security, or access restrictions
- use automated systems to abuse or overload the service
- use the service to generate unlawful or harmful content
We may restrict or terminate access where reasonably necessary to protect users, Once, or the integrity of the service.
8. Availability and Changes
We work to keep Once available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Features may change, be improved, replaced, or discontinued as the service evolves.
9. Intellectual Property
The Once name, branding, website design, software, and other materials provided by Once, excluding user-provided content and rights that may apply to generated content, are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of the Once service, software, trademarks, or branding.
10. Disclaimers
Once is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law.
We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will always be accurate, appropriate, unique, or suitable for every child or situation.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for deciding whether generated content is appropriate for their child.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Once and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
12. Termination
You may stop using Once at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access if you materially violate these Terms, misuse the service, create security or legal risks, or where otherwise reasonably necessary to protect the service or its users.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves.
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice where required by applicable law.
Continued use of Once after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable laws of the United States and the laws applicable to the operator of Once, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where consumer protection laws require otherwise.
